I really was in the mood for the beach and a stroll down the boardwalk, but I had plans for later in the day and not enough time to get to Rehoboth or Ocean City and back. What to do? I remembered someone saying that a new dock bar in Port Deposit had opened up and had Dulles Taffy and some other stuff outside on a boardwalk. I decided to drive over and check it out. I’m glad I did. What a cute idea and a great draw for the town!
Parking in Port Deposit is always tough, but there is a parking shuttle and golf cart to help you get to and from the restaurant if you have to park further away than the Lee’s Landing parking lot. I lucked out and scored the last parking spot in the public lot next to the post office parking lot. Boaters and bikers have plenty of free docking and parking space.
As I approached Lee’s Landing, I saw a sand play area with a pirate ship theme and several cutouts for photo ops. Just beyond that was the boardwalk, complete with several sets of booths for traditional beach foods, a Tiki bar and a stage for live entertainment. There is seating beside the boardwalk, on the restaurant deck and inside the restaurant. If the weather is nice, definitely go for outdoor seating. The view is gorgeous!
Since I was mainly there for the boardwalk, I just ordered a few things at different booths (Cash only on the boardwalk, but there is an ATM inside the restaurant.) and chose a table on the boardwalk. So many choices, including fries, pizza, Fisher’s popcorn and more! I went with snow cones and funnel fries. For those who, like me, had to ask, funnel fries are made with funnel cake dough shaped into fries. The funnel fries were perfectly done and the snow cones were refreshing.
The best part of my visit? The live entertainment. (You can check their event schedule to see when bands will be playing.) Conley and Watson were really enjoyable to listed to.
I spent a pleasant hour on the boardwalk, enjoying my snacks, listening to music and people watching. I really did feel like I took a quick summer trip to the boardwalk at the beach without the massive crowds and expensive parking!
The restaurant itself looks very inviting. I’ll have to come back another day* to give it a proper try, but I can absolutely recommend the cream of crab soup, which I had as a takeout option. Incredible! Very rich and packed with real crab.
* I went back to Lee’s Landing to have dinner on a Sunday evening and didn’t end up staying. The place was jam packed and there was definitely a drinking crowd. A great spot if you are looking for live music and an energetic bar scene, but not quite what I was wanting this time, as I was looking for a place to have dinner with my mom.
