As we continue our search for the top breakfast spots in Harford County, Maryland, we happened upon Black Eyed Suzie’s, a restaurant in Bel Air that offers Sunday brunch. It was a hopping spot, with a crowd that is pretty serious about the Bloody Mary. (The fixings bar seemed to be really popular.) We asked about a quieter dining area and the waitress took us to the far room, but it was still pretty bustling. Of course, the only reason the restaurant would be this busy is because everyone knows the food is great, right? Pretty much!
We waded right into the brunch menu with an order of candied bacon, carrot cake pancakes and French toast. Everything was delicious and the carrot cake pancakes were definitely a fun choice. The bacon, though. Oh, the bacon. If you’ve never had candied bacon and you love bacon and things with a kick of sweet, you must, absolutely must, experience this nectar.
If you go:
- Don’t worry about parking. There was plenty of space to park near the restaurant.
- You’ll want to spend a few minutes looking around when you are inside. There is a Pimlico/Maryland theme to the murals and photos.
